FC Dallas needs to get in sync against Houston

05/04/2010 - Houston, TX (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - FC Dallas manager Schellas Hyndman believes the team's inability to finish scoring chances so far this season is its "Achilles heel."

Dallas has scored in every game, but is winless this season with four ties and a loss. After opening the year with a 1-1 draw against the Houston Dynamo, FCD plays its Texas rival again Wednesday night still in search of its first win.

"From preseason all the way until today," Hyndman said after a 1-1 tie against the nine-man New England Revolution on Saturday, "we've not done a real good job on the finishing part.

"We're just kind of out of sync, but I know that our players feel terrible because it's becoming a continuing saga for us."

Dallas visits Robertson Stadium with seven goals scored this season, but three of those are from the penalty spot. Jeff Cunningham, who led MLS with 17 goals last season, has all three of his goals from the spot.

Atiba Harris, who scored the lone goal against New England, is the team's next leading scorer with two goals. Eric Avila and Dax McCarty each have one.

Following the tie against New England, Hyndman admitted the team let even more points slip away - especially with a two-man advantage for much of the second half. New England had two players ejected in the match.

"This was one of those games," Hyndman said, "we've got to put behind us and keep moving forward because we're doing a lot of things well."

McCarty, who had one of the 12 cards issued in the match against New England, knows Dallas needs to start getting better results.

"We know what we have and how good of a team we are," McCarty said, according to MLSsoccer.com. "Now it's just a matter of going out there and getting the results that we need to get us points because you don't get any points for playing good soccer.

"You get points for victories, so that's what we need to do."

Houston, which beat the Kansas City Wizards 3-0 on Saturday, has won three of its five matches since the opening-night draw against Dallas. Although it has as many results as Dallas - three wins and a draw - it has six more points.

Dynamo coach Dominic Kinnear continues to piece together a good side, although he had to replace Ricardo Clark and Stuart Holden prior to this season and has dealt with injuries to forward Brian Ching and midfielder Geoff Cameron so far this season.

Luis Angel Landin, Brian Mullan and Sammy Appiah scored in Saturday's victory, the third win in four home matches this season for Houston. The Dynamo are 0-2 on the road, where they have yet to score.

"It was very important for the team to win after coming from a loss," Landin, who left the match in the second half with an injury, said on MLSsoccer.com.
